Step 1: Head to the Takashiro Region Start by opening the world map and looking toward the northwest side of the mainland map. The Takashiro region sits in a mountainous area filled with forests, tight switchback roads, and elevated trails. The easiest way to begin is by setting a waypoint on the far western side of Takashiro. Once you get close, the paved roads start turning into narrow mountain routes with several sharp hairpins. This part of the map is easy to miss if you normally stick to highways or festival routes, so take your time while driving through the mountains. Step 2: Find the Hidden Dirt TrailAs you drive through the western mountain roads, keep an eye out for a dirt path that branches away from one of the hillside hairpins. The trail is not heavily marked, which is why many players drive past it the first time. Once you enter the dirt road, continue climbing uphill through the trees. After a short drive, the scenery suddenly opens up and reveals the famous Nachi Falls waterfall in the distance. The waterfall towers over the entire area, and directly in front of it sits the bright red temple sanctuary. It is one of the most visually impressive locations in the game, especially during rainy weather or sunset conditions. Step 3: Complete the Discover Japan Photo ChallengeOnce you arrive at the temple courtyard, drive your car into an open position where both the temple and the waterfall are visible together in the frame. To complete the challenge: - Stop your vehicle in the courtyard area.
- Press up on the D-pad to enter Photo Mode.
- Adjust the camera until both landmarks are clearly visible.
- Take the photo.
If everything is lined up correctly, the Discover Japan challenge will complete immediately and the location will be added to your Collector’s Journal. Some players position the camera too close to the temple and accidentally cut the waterfall out of the frame, so it helps to back the car up slightly before taking the picture. Step 4: Search for the Hidden Treasure CarA lot of players leave right after finishing the photo challenge, but there is another secret waiting nearby. Around the temple grounds and waterfall area, you can find the hidden 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GS Treasure Car. The vehicle is parked close to the surrounding paths near the falls. Explore the nearby area carefully and you should spot it without too much trouble. Once you drive up to the car, it will automatically unlock and be added to your garage. For many players, this hidden reward is the main reason to visit the Temple of Nachi Falls in the first place, since the Evo III is one of the more desirable collectible cars in the game. The Temple of Nachi Falls stands out because it combines exploration, photography challenges, and collectibles in a single destination. Unlike some hidden areas that only exist for scenery, this location actually rewards players for taking the time to explore the mountains. The combination of the giant waterfall, forest roads, and traditional temple architecture also makes it one of the best places in the game for screenshots.
